Caz and Craig from Ytravel.com
Hi, we’re Caz and Craig!
And together with our two daughters, Kalyra and Savannah, we are the Makepeace family.
What can we say, with a last name like that, we’re a friendly bunch!
Our travel blog is all about helping YOU to get inspired and get informed to go travel, and travel more often.
We believe that life is about creating great memories and making it a story to tell, and we do that through travel.
Originally from the Central Coast Region in Australia, we’ve been travelling around the world since 1997, first solo, then as a couple, and now with our two young girls.
We started y Travel Blog in April 2010 as a way to share our own personal travel tips and stories to help others live their travel dreams.
I asked them a few questions…
How “exactly” do your make money to “fund” your lifestyle/travels ?
We have a variety of different ways we make money to fund our lifestyle. We write freelance articles for other websites. We sometimes create other forms of freelance content for companies and tourist boards such as video and social media content.
We also accept sponsored posts on our site and some advertising (although this only brings in a small amount) We make a small amount from affiliate programs as well.
We are now taking on sponsors for our blog. This might come in the form of product, such as hotel stays or tours, which helps cover the cost of our lifestyle. Or it might be in the form of an ambassador for that company which we are currently in the process of finalizing.
We should be launching the first of our own digital products later this month. We have 3 ebooks on travel planned for the rest of this year, so will be expecting to make an income from the sale of those.
I (Caz) also have my own personal blog Mojito Mother, which earns me a small amount of money via sponsored posts.
If you can change anything about your decision, what would it be ?
I would have started in 2007 when I first had the idea for it, instead of waiting until 2010 and experiencing a lot of hardship in between. Never let your life be ruled by those voices of fear and insecurity–they’ll never take you to a happy place.
What does success mean to you ?
Success to me means waking up every day happy and ready to great the day. When I worked a job I hated, the first word of the day I would speak was Oh F**k. Success means waking up with a bounce in my step instead. I also think success means waking up knowing that I am positively contributing to the world and helping other people to wake up with a bounce in their step!
What makes you happy the most ?
Travelling with my family. I love the freedom, exploration and discovery of travel. It is where I feel most alive and on purpose.
